CAD Technician - Utilities/Civil Engineering

  

Our client, a regional civil engineering main contractor that has a mixture of works across the region including water/wastewater, infrastructure, roads & highways and utilities is currently looking to recruit an experienced CAD Technician to work in their office in the Manchester area.


The Design team is growing in line with the business strategy and will be a fundamental part of the next generation of life for this client. The client has been awarded more large scale and unique projects, and so we need to grow the team to compliment the workload. 


CAD Technician Responsibilities:


As a CAD Designer, you will provide a professional, customer focused and efficient service to the department whilst adhering to time constraints. You will be liaising with developers and site engineers, submitting as laid drawings and approved designs once updated. You will visit sites when arranged by supervisors to gain knowledge of construction processes and take accurate measures. You will also be expected to update and maintain the drawing register every time a drawing is amended or created and update and maintain information white board with unapproved amendments. 


You’ll submit all as-laids to the clients within 5 days of energisation/ installation and if amendments are required, they are distributed within a maximum of 2 days. In this role you will keep the electronic filing system up to date with latest plans and information provide a computerised version of all designs ready for submission to the client/ DNO within 5 days of receipt from the designer. 


CAD Technician Requirements:


  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products / internet and email 
  • A good understanding of safe working practices / basic H&S requirements
  • Excellent planning and organisational qualities
  • Able to cope under pressure
  • Strong commitment to customer service excellence
  • Experience of AutoCAD
  • Previous experience in a similar position

Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with site on daily basis issues related to programme, resources, production, productivity necessary to meet with programme requirements

  • Experienced Project Manager or Site Agent/Manager ready to make the step up into Project Management
  • Excellent communication and people and team management skills
  • Experienced managing projects, programs, budgets etc.
