Our client, a civil engineering contractor is looking to recruit an experienced Contracts Manager to join their expanding team to work on projects throughout the North West. Project value ranges from £2m to £10m working across civil engineering, earthworks and remediation projects both as main contractor and sub-contractor.

Contracts Manager Responsibilities:

• Proven track record of managing works of civil engineering, earthworks and remediation projects both as main contractor and sub-contractor
• Responsibility from both a commercial and contractual standpoint 
• Ensure contracts run to schedule and to budget
• Demonstrable experience of successfully undertaking a similar contracts manager role
• Ensure works are completed to the highest level of quality and in line with Company procedures. 
• Upfront planning and mobilisation in advance of works commencing on site.
• Input into Resource Management including “look ahead” programmes, material scheduling, plant and labour forecasting and progress on site is regularly benchmarked against target programme. 
• Effective man management of site staff / motivating workforce to meet project deadlines and targets. 
• Client liaison – promote a positive client interface ensuring that our clients maintain the highest level of confidence with the Company. 

Contracts Manager Requirements:

• Relevant industry qualification (HND/HNC/BEng or equivalent)
• Civil engineering experience. 
• Experience within civils, earthworks and demolition advantageous
• Experienced Contracts Manager, however, candidates at Project Manager Level ready to make the step up to Contract Management strongly considered.
• Excellent communication and people and team management skills

 Site Manager Key Accountabilities: 

• Ensure accurate implementation of all works on site
• Produce risk assessments and method statements  
• Ensure work is executed in a safe manner  
• Manage site activities to ensure work is completed on time and within budget 
• Ordering of materials
• Ordering of plant
• Management of an in-house team as well as managing specialist subcontractors
• Manage issues related with programme, resources, production, productivity necessary to meet with  programme requirements 
• Lead all actions to solve technical difficulties, improve performance in terms of progress and quality 
• Set working parameters, ensure their application on site, assess the performance 

Site Manager Requirements: 

• Relevant industry qualification (HND/HNC/BEng or equivalent) 
• Civil engineering experience (Civil Engineering, Infrastructure, Utilities, Roads & Highways, Heavy Civils all considered) 
• Experienced in site management

Works Manager Responsibilities:

• Understanding the main contract and relevant clauses 
• Understand drawings and specifications 
• Ensuring works are carried out productively with the safety of other a high priority 
• Ensuring works are carried out to the highest standard 
• Ensuring schemes are delivered on time and within budget
• Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and daily briefings 
• Ensuring safety is first and foremost 
• Plant and Labour reconciliations to ensure efficiencies across our sites. 
• Communication with managers to ensure all site staff including Sub Contractors work safely
• Material reconciliations and produce regular reports 
• Management of staff issues, performance and absence 
• Identification of team training and development needs and mentoring junior members
• Produce and review method statements/risk assessments
• Liaise with all relevant sub-contractors
